The High School
The High School
Ridgewood High School, founded in 1892, is a comprehensive high school, grades 9-12, which attempts to meet the needs of all students. It is also an institution with a long-standing tradition of providing a sound and challenging academic program for college-bound students. The present school population is 1,667. The high school is the largest in Bergen County. The Class of 2011 includes 417 students.
Ridgewood High School does not calculate a numerical rank. The academic environment at Ridgewood High School is very challenging. The majority of our students meet that challenge by earning exemplary grades. The comparisons fostered by a rank-in-class calculation create unnecessary competition within the school. After a year-long study, we concluded that courses will continue to be weighted and grade point averages, General and College Preparatory, will continue to be calculated for the purpose of the transcript. The high school transcript will include both General Grade Point Average and a College Preparatory Grade Point Average Range, using the weighted chart below.
